Angelina Jolie has reportedly told her friends that she would consider running for president of the United States.

The Wanted star, also a UN Goodwill Ambassador, has expressed a desire to become even more politically involved, the Daily Express reports.

"Ange has admitted she's getting bored with Hollywood. She said she's now got her sights set on Washington," said a source.

"She is passionate about people's rights, war and justice and thinks she can get more hands-on and make even more of a difference by getting into politics. She admires Obama and thinks she could make a big difference too if she were in his position."

However, Jolie recently admitted during an appearance on CNN programme Anderson Cooper 360 that she does not consider herself to be a political person.

Last month, she and husband Brad Pitt donated $1 million (£618,000) to aid Pakistan refugees through their Jolie-Pitt Foundation.
