Angelina Jolie could save the Resident Evil films

ANGELINA Jolie would be the perfect choice to breathe new-life into the flagging Resident Evil film series.

The fourth Resident Evil film will be released next year, according to movie insider reports this week.

Despite being continually bashed by critics, the franchise has done well enough at the box office for another run out.

Hmmm. Love the games, which are rightly lauded as amongst the best in the video game business.

    Loathe the films.

Leading lady Milla Jovovich, who plays Alice, has all the charm of Liam Gallagher and none of the wit. And that's not a compliment. At all.

But Jolie - who's not being considered for the forthcoming reboot of the Tomb Raider series - would be a great choice, particularly with her video game heroine background.

Sadly the film's somewhat limited budget would almost certainly rule out an appearance by the lovely Mrs Brad Pitt.

    Shame but cash counts. Sadly.

According to The Geek Files, the new film will be called Resident Evil: Afterlife and will be released in September next year.

Horror site Shock Till You Drop reports that Jovovich, is likely to return and speculates that the character and her clones, as seen at the end of the third film, are likely to be shown seeking revenge on the Umbrella Corporation in Tokyo.

Made on relatively small budgets averaging $43million per movie, the series has brought in decent box office returns despite being bashed by critics and having a mixed response from fans of the original games.

Understandable really. Come on RE, do it right this time.
